in Grooving 2016
Last weekend found us in the big apple for one of the biggest events in the Jamaican Diaspora,Groovin in the Park. The day before it came alive, Sunday June 26, at Roy Wilkins Park in queens, there was a general vibe in the community with Barry G and Ras Klem co hosting; Dwayne Stephenson was their first presentation of the billed line-up who had trouble rising to the occasion so much that hardly anyone could tell it was the biggest billing of his budding career.
Tessanne Chin moved the proceedings into high gear with deliveries of new releases sprinkled with old favorites.
Unleashing gems from his timeless catalogue with mastery of stage craft Toots had the full attention of the swelling crowd for all his stay.
Pebo with support from Regina Bell wowed with big sing-a-longs and then the park erupted with the coming of Beres Hammond and no one rested their feet, hands or voice until he was gone. There were moments after moments including one where Brian McKnight had closing honors.
