Groovin In the Park, the largest international reggae and R&B festival will be even more exciting this year with the addition of the Caribbean Food Delights World Jamaican Beef Patty Eating Championship.
“Groovin in the Park is excited to partner with Caribbean Food Delights (CFD) for the World Jamaican Beef Patty Championship, which is sanctioned by Wisconsin’s based All Pro Eating Promotions governing body,” said Groovin Executive Producer, Christopher Roberts.
*This is probably the first time that a professional competition of this kind is being held at a reggae/ R&B festival in North America, which will provide Groovin In The Park patrons a unique opportunity to experience the competition first hand. I am confident they will enjoy it” Roberts noted.
“Our Jamaican patty eating competition in its 15th year, is bigger than ever, with prize money of approximately $20,000. The grand prize winner receives $10,000, second place - $5,000, third, fourth and fifth places $2,500, $1,000 and $500, respectively” said CFD’s Chief Operating Officer, Sabrina HoSang-Jordan. She said, being one of the most lucrative competitive eating championships, Groovin’s spectators will see eight top professional contenders vie for the world championship grand prize and trophy.
“At this sanctioned event, CFD will look to set the standard by which all Jamaican beef patty competitive eating championships are judged globally,” said CFD’s Marketing & PR Manager, Janice Julian. “In the past, the winner was determined by the first to finish a given number of patties, however, this year, we are looking to set a new world record in the newly regulated time of 8 minutes allotted.”
“CFD has long been a recognized leader in the food industry and in the world of competitive eating,” said All Pro Eating Promotions Chairman, Todd Greenwald. “Now that CFD has established The World Beef Patty Eating Championship, it has separated itself as a leading producer of premium quality Jamaican patties!” He said he is honored to be involved with the event and he looks forward in letting the world know that Caribbean Food Delights Jamaican Beef Patties deserve to be known as a world championship food!
